The Pain/Excitement of Downsizing

The Pain/Excitement of Downsizing

Well...it's a grand and groovy, zippity doo dah, ding dong day in the canyon this morning...A big day at Weaver Creek with Bro Shawn and Nikki's bridal shower just after the morning service and a quick lunch in the fellowship hall.....I've got a gift but I'm not staying for the lunch and shower...I'm just not crazy about a lot of extra stuff away from home even if it IS a shower...Now if this had been a 'woman only' shower right here in town...I'd have gone if I could have worked it in...but the men are in the middle of EVERYTHING at Weaver Creek...for the love of PETE!  We had a LADIES meeting at church the other day and we couldn't even 'meet' without one of the men running in and out...in and out and that is NOT necessary. WE have brains TOO and we know how to MEET...ALONE hahaha...So "I" will be HERE with MY geezer, dining in our cozy living room .. in front of the TV and fireplace...watching the motorcycle race from Daytona.  We're having 'Tommy Tucker Plates'  and I'll be running plate lunches to Kim and Evan if they'll let me because they're in the process of getting Kim moved this weekend. I'm thinking about running to the Dairy Queen with Carol real quick first...but I'll see how the morning unwinds....I'm going to start getting Carol out a little more...that rascal is going to mess around and become a recluse.  And Tuesday is her birthday so I have a fun few hours planned for her on that day...
I'm tellin' ya the truth...I don't know how most folks have a lot of time for 'fun and games' without their spouse...because when I leave the house...I pretty much like to have MY geezer WITH me and I think he feels pretty much the same way...but sometimes you have to work in little extras...like a geezer breakfast...or a quick lunch with a lonely friend.

Well...it's getting to the time in our lives where we're seriously talking about downsizing...EEEEEE GADS!!!   I'm thinking by the time we're 70 would be a good time if our health holds up pretty good that long...and we're already well over the hump of 66-67...So we're talking about downsizing into a little 4-5 room cabin with a front porch all the way across the front and back and a little workshop for Billy...I'll need some trees on the spot where we buy, if we do this...Because I hate to see a home built on a spot and there isn't a tree or good sized bush for a country mile...I like for things to look like they've been there for a hundred years...you know meeeeeeeeeee...We need to be closer to town and we need just a little land around us to play in...but not much...But I'll need enough room for a nice cottage garden behind the house and maybe a gazebo and setting area in the backyard too.  I don't need much....mainly a few trees and a full basement for a den/dining area for family/friends...with living room, bedroom, kitchen and bath above...a 4 room house is plenty for us and that'll do meeeeeeeeeeee just perfect.....This place is getting to be like keeping up Disney World...It's heavenly...but almost too much already for a couple with bad knees and bad backs in spite of a strong desire to keep it all spiffy....

It's bittersweet to think of moving...Lots of good memories in Round Knob Canyon...But that's the good thing about re-building in the next 3-4 years...we'll hopefully have plenty of time to make our cabin into a warm and fuzzy home filled with good memories for one of us to be left in  :-(

Well HOW BOUT THEM DODGERS????   hahahahaha   This is NOT a warm and fuzzy FEEL good story today...is it?   But we've really been talking about this a lot lately....so it's really weighing heavy on my mind...I know it's the thing to do...but oh goodness...

Tell ya what....I've got some cookin' to do and I need to get busy....so let's wind down today with a funny story....
"Two elderly ladies were out drivin' in a large car...probably a Cadillac...you know how old ladies are that are too old and senile to be driving' anyway....and then they think they have to have a big old Cadillac or Lincoln Continental ..hahaha
But neither of them were hardly tall enough to see over the dashboard of the car.  As they cruised along, they came to an intersection..the stop light was red, but they just went on through.  The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself, "I must be losing it, I sure thought we just went through a red light."  After a few more minutes, they came to another intersection and the light was red again and once again, they went right through the intersection without even slowing down.
This time, the passenger was almost sure that the light was red and she was getting very nervous and decided to pay very close attention from here on out....At the next intersection, sure enough, the light was definitely red and they went right on through it.  So she turned to her elderly friend that was driving and said, "Mildred?  Did you know we've just ran right through 3 red lights in a row and you didn't even slow DOWN?  You could have killed us BOTH!"  Mildred turned to Frances and said, "OH SHOOT, Frances....am "I" DRIVING?"

Now seeeeeeeeeeeeee it was time, long ago...for them to downsize to a Volkswagen and they were stubborn and didn't DO it....

Peace and Love from Round Knob Canyon...I love you all gobs....and thanks so much for stopping by...this has been a bird's eye view of the katydid and until next time..you are loved...

Ok...we're looking at plans and this is one "I" liked...1 bedroom, 2 baths and it's called "Simplicity"....SURPRISE  :-)   Of course it needs to be logs...but this will give you an idea of what we're thinkin'...and we don't want that garage..and the porch would have to come all the way across the front and back and I like FLAT roofs...don't want that point in the middle...hahahahaha   Oooooooooh meeeeeeeee
