When Two Have Been One for a Hundred Years...

When Two Have Been One For A Hundred Years

Well....maybe not quite 100  :-)  But we've been together a loooooooong time...coming up on 47 years and we dated 3 years before that...so we're half way there.  It's a great life, sharing my life with this old geezer...he's a pretty good old rascal...but he runs a really tight ship.  :-)

We were laughing while we were on vacation, because a subject came up and our views were to the direct opposite ends of the spectrum...that seems to happen pretty often...but we still click just perfect.  Billy has said several times over the years that our personalities compliment each other and that's why we click so well.

My old geezer belly laughs 2 dozen times a day, has a soft heart and is very sentimental...but if you cross him...he'd just as soon shoot you as look at you...."I" on the other hand, if you stab ME in the back...I'll be thinking "Oh poor dear, they must have had a bad childhood, maybe abusive parents, went to bed hungry way too often, probably never had a sincere tight hug in their life, let's show them a little love and kindness and that there's a better way if they can acquire a good attitude towards life and all it hands us, good or bad...

We were sitting on the beach just relaxing and he said, "Let's head to the cabin and take a drive and get a little something to eat...."  I had the camera with me for an emergency photo opportunity...so I grabbed it up and I said "Who's your favorite person in all the world to be in your hip pocket when you're out and about like this?"  He said, "Well you of course!"  I said, "Ooooops I missed that shot when you said that...so say it again and give me those warm smiley eyes when you say it"  I forgot his glasses darken when he's outdoors and we can't even SEE his eyes in this shot...but what a GREAT shot....I wish I was half as photogenic as he is....when I accidentally get caught in a picture I look plumb scary.  :-/

We were at the flea market in Deland last Wednesday and we were about to head to the car and head back to Daytona and I said "I'm going to have to run to the little girls room, so just wait at this bench and I'll be right back"  When I left him...he was sitting there totally alone just watching people walk by...I even turned around and looked as I was going in the door and yup...he was still ok..safe and sound on the park bench...But when I came back out just about 2 minutes later...here he sat with this woman and they were jabbering like magpies.....So I got a few shots from the back and then I sneaked around in front of them and got a few shots from the front.
In a minute Billy spotted me and pointed to me and started laughing and the woman started laughing....so I walked over to them and I said to her "Is my husband trying to pick you up?"  She said, "Noooooooooo "I'M" trying to pick HIM up but so far, its a no go...and I've been a widow for a long time and I need a man"  hahaha
She was from Northern Illinois and was at the flea market with her niece and had lost her in the crowd....so she just came to that bench and set down to let her niece....find HER.

Do you see that big tall thing Billy has his hand on?  That's an old stop light from who knows when...it's decades old...and he's going to restore it and put it out on his Toy Box corner...He LOVES tinkering with the unusual....
Here's a better shot....of Billy....his new friend AND his stop light....See how he laughs so easy...if he ever met a stranger I'd think he had a high fever or something....

My old geezer is one goofy gander rascal....he tells EVERYBODY he was born in the back of his dads old motorcycle shop in 1945.......And we were about to go out and eat and were at the cottage and I layed his clothes out and just laid out a plain old sport shirt....he handed it to me and said "Here hang this back up and get me one of my old motorcycle shirts out"  I said "Ggggrrrrr I'm going to get ME some JESUS shirts...and ever time you tell your story about being born in the back of a motorcycle shop in 1945....I'M going to tell people "I" was born behind a PULPIT in 1946...

Soooooooooo many of my emails talk about the 'banter stories' I tell about how Billy and I pick at each other and how some of you LOVE the way we are....It usually makes for a funny story...but it isn't always funny when these things HAPPEN...hahaha

We were on a day trip once with Paul and Jane, 2 of our old geezer friends (we lost Paul just a couple years ago)...and Billy was cutting up with a lady clerk in a store and when we walked away Jane said, "Billy I thought that clerk was going to come across the counter to you...she thought you were flirting with her right in front of Katy"  Billy said "Wy "I" wasn't flirting with her...I was just being friendly and making conversation"  I chimed in and said "Jane, Billy would have acted that way if that clerk had been 8 or 108...that's just his personality..he loves to make people laugh"

Several years ago, we were on our way to the races at Springfield, and we had to make a potty stop for me at Litchfield..Billy said "WHAT??? WE JUST STOPPED FOR YOU AT MT VERNON!!!  We are NEVER going to get to SPRINGFIELD if we hit every potty stop"  :-/   But we pulled off and I ran in to the truck stop and was back out in 2 minutes..when I came out Billy was talking to some older geezer in overalls that drove a little rickety truck and I'm telling you the truth they laughed and shared stories until "I" thought I was going to have to go BACK to the bathroom before we hit the road again..I'll bet he talked to that old geezer for 20 minutes after I came back out....My old geezer never meets a stranger and he's NEVER without a story.

Well....where am I going with this blog?   Noooooooooooooooowhere...I wanted to tell you about the little woman in the big floppy hat and I just got carried away....

But it's great being in a really good relationship for decades...you know it?   It isn't that we don't have our issues...but oh my goodness...we sure have a good time and a great life together...

So if you're in a relationship and it could be better..start today to make it better..take time to make time for each other...plan a date night...leave little notes...do special things for each other...The time investment you put into your relationship will be the very best investment you can ever EVER make...

They say the very best love stories just have no ending...and after 50 years of being the first and last thing each of us think about each morning and evening... I think we've got one of those...

Thank you Lord...for your blessings on meeeeeeeee

Peace and love from the canyon....I love you all gobs and this has been a bird's eye view of the katydid and until next time...you are loved

Well...times have changed and years have passed....our own kids now tower over our heads and our hair is getting a little past gray....but my old geezer is still within an arms reach of me where ever I am...and I sure love that about him...THIS pic below...is my favorite spot on planet earth...Rocky Mountain National Park...we're booked for May...but maybe I'll take him back there about June  :-).
