Home Remedies....Brown Recluse Spiders and More

I've had a few emails lately wanting to know what to use to get rid of ants and fleas and what about bee stings and splinters and this and that....So I thought today we'd just go over a few of those things...
Now I'm no rocket scientist and don't claim to BE one....I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box...But I DO know right from wrong and I know natural healing and home remedies....so that's what we're going to talk about a little today....

Let's start with ants:
The quickest way to get rid of even the biggest ant infestation is to go to your local farm store...OR it can probably be bought on amazon...and buy "Roach Proof".  That will kill just about any common house bug and it slaughters ant infestations.  Roach Proof is put out by Copper Brite..www.copperbrite.com and we get ours at our local farm store for about $10...It's in a canister like a coffee can and the can is bright yellow... I think OUR farm store is called Farmer's Pharmacy on about 3rd or 4th Street in Paducah...And one can has lasted us about 3 years and I've given a lot away.  You mix about 2 tbsp. of the roach proof with a cup or so of water and mix well and put it down in a few locations over night...You may be seeing just an ant here and there but when you put that down after supper and turn off the kitchen or bathroom lights...they will come by the hundreds from every nook and cranny in your part of the country...HOWEVER in 3 days they will all be dead because they carry the delicious blue koolaid back to their own homes....It's kinda like a Jim Jones Party ... for ants...shall we pray

FLEAS:  ITCH ITCH ITCH...SCRATCH SCRATCH SCRATCH!!!
For your pets....shampoo them in Dawn Detergent...let the detergent stay on their entire body for about 3 minutes.   Fleas will die and they won't come back if you do that weekly.
For INDOORS:  Mix Dawn dish liquid with water in a spray bottle and you can get those $1 empty spray bottles at the Dollar Store.  Spray a light mist over all your carpets and throw rugs....let it dry.  Somehow the Dawn smothers the fleas....You'll need to do this weekly too...during the summer.  But it's SO worth it.  We don't even have indoor pets...but when Frumpy was alive...he'd get fleas SO bad living outdoors and they would somehow come in the doors and get in the carpets..and I just slaughtered those rascals....But I did it out of necessity because I've allergic to flea bites and I did it with the kindest Christian love....

BEE STINGS:  ALWAYS keep Cream Of Tartar in your cabinet.  When you get a bee or wasp sting...sprinkle Cream of Tartar on a wet paper towel and slap it on the bee or insect bite.  Hold for one minute.   It will take out the burning and swelling in less than 60 seconds...and this is not an exaggeration.....

SPLINTERS:  There's a little orange tin you can get at your drug store and it's called PRID...It's an herbal salve...but if you put that on a splinter and cover with a bandaid...the splinter will pull itself out within 12 hours....You can also dip a tiny piece of bacon fat in turpentine and put IT over the splinter and cover with a bandaid...and that also will take out even the most stubborn splinter in a few hours...

I found this little ditty on Brown Recluse Spiders scrolling through facebook the other day and thought IT was worth our time to read. And the brown recluse information is just copied and pasted....... We'll do more home remedies soon....

About 4 years ago I had a Doctor appointment. That morning they called and postponed it because our Dr. was in surgery. Two days later they called back and cancelled my appointment because our Doctor had died on the operating table. We thought that he was the one doing the operating He had been bitten by a Brown Recluse. He had tried treating himself instead of getting help. He was fairly young (late 40’s) and the best Doctor we had ever had.

Brown Recluse Spider . . ..
At this time of year, this is worth seeing.
Show these picture to your spouse, your kids, grand kids, and friends. It could save their lives. Remember what this Spider looks like and be careful while cleaning, as told below.
It's summertime & cleanup is going on. Be careful where you put your hands. They like dark spaces & woodpiles. Also cool areas in the attic............................................

The Brown Recluse Spider is the most
dangerous spider that we have here in the USA.

A person can die from it’s bite. We all should know what the spider looks like.

Send this around to people you love, because it is almost summer time.

People will be digging around, doing yard work, spring cleaning, and sometimes in their attics.

Please be careful.
Spider bites are dangerous and can have permanent and highly negative consequences.

They like the darkness and tend to live in storage sheds or attics or other areas that might not be frequented by people or light.

If you have a need to be in your attic, go up there and turn on a light and leave it on for about 30 minutes before you go in to do your work.

I get many naturaling newsletters....through my email and that come to my home in snailmail...and I had one the other day about the dangers of microwaves and was going to add that to todays blog.  HOWEVER when I started researching the dangers of microwaves I found SO MUCH horrific info I decided to make that a blog on it's own....so we'll do that soon.   I have stopped using MY microwave....since I read and researched it...fyi

Well...that's it for today....Got a tremendous amount done at Kevin's yesterday....even got us all some blueberries put away to munch on to make our brains think better and I have gallons to go next week ... Today I work on bible school decorations and a quick trip to Kev's just to check on him because he's doing some major work in the house....
These people that live 'on vacations' are soooooooooooo blessed....I wonder if they have any idea....They just wear themselves out running from one side of the country to the other...Oh well..maybe they're not so blessed after all...Maybe they HAVE nothing to do...but then..how could that BE?   I always wonder who mows their lawns...and who keeps their places going..and who sees to other daily chores that won't go on the back burner....because in the canyon ... it's a full time job I'M here to tell ya...For US...a few days away is like a few days in a MAGICAL land...it's very special to get even a 2 or 3 day weekend once or twice a year.. But for all those foot loose and fancy free people...I guess a vacation is just another day on earth....
But it's real life in the canyon and I've gotta get off here and get TO that real life....things to do...people to see too...errands to run...and then there's the daily chores...

TAKE A LOOK...
This is MY favorite place on Planet Earth....the mountain streams and trails of the smoky mountains.  We had planned on making 2 trips there this year....I wanted to make one in the car and the geezer wanted to make one on the Valkyrie...but we can't seem to get out of the driveway..We had planned to leave right after Kim's birthday but then Kev had his flood and then the 2nd flood...but maybe in about 2-3 weeks we can hit the road for a few days....
And look at my old fat face...this was a Valkyrie trip a couple years ago and the wind makes my face swell SO bad.  So the geezer bought me a face shield for my helmet...and that helped TONS to keep the swelling down from the wind...THEN we were coming home from Moonshine, Ill (I have a blog about that trip...look in archives from about 10 days or so ago..)  but anyway I had my shield down and I dozed off coming home on that long ride...and konked my head into the geezers helmet and my windshield flew off....whatever....must have not meant to be for me to look half way normal when I get off a bike after a long ride......But I LOVE the smoky mountains....the most peaceful and romantic place on the face of the earth...at least to me and the geezer....You'll have to scroll way down to get the pic...I couldn't get it to do right and Kim had an early morning appointment...I think it's even going to overlap with stuff and really mess up....Some days you're the bug and some days you're the windshield....
