It Had To Be You - Dick Haymes and Helen Forrest

Thanks For The Memories:  Songs of Yesteryear
                                                               It Had To Be You
By Dick Haynes and Helen Forrest

"It Had To Be You" was written in 1924 by Isham Jones and Gus Kahn.  Now old Isham and Gus...those names don't sound like men who would be writing really to die for love songs...now do they?  But they sure 'nuff did.  In FACT old Gus Kahn was the lyricist in their song writing and he also wrote the words to songs like "I'll See You In My Dreams" and "Dream A Little Dream Of Me" and "Memories".  OH my GOODNESS...the first thing I thought when I saw what warm and fuzzy love songs old Gus had written was...."OOOOOOH MY GOODNESS!!!"  :-)  We all know what a hopeless romantic I am and if I was married to someone that was THAT romantic...I'd be having seizures right and left...I'd probably be on life support....hahaha

Todays song, "It Had To Be You" was requested by a friend.  In fact, when she messaged me on Friday and asked if I'd feature this song, I had almost used this very song that day, because I've always loved it too...and I don't even have to say why...we'll try to not even GO there today....hahaha

Patty said that when she was little...her dad and mom used to dance to this song in the kitchen and she grew to love it so much.  She said sometimes her daddy would reach out for her and let her stand on his toes and he'd dance with her to this song.  WHAT sweet memories!

My geezer was quite the dancer when we were in school...of course I wasn't quite as worldly as he...so I never learned to dance.
But I can remember...after I had already picked him out in the high school hallway...to be my one and only forever after....I can remember sitting on the bleachers in the school gym at Sock Hops and watching him dance with his current girlfriend at that time...AND sometimes he'd even dance with her MOM...I don't know WHAT...SHE was doing there...hahaha   But I'd be sitting there thinking...THEY'RE dancing with my HUSBAND...what NERVE!!!  hahaha

Through the years...I've asked him many times to teach me to dance...but he'd say it wasn't proper for me....WHAT?  I WASN'T TALKING about renting a POLE...I just wanted to slow dance to something like "It Had To Be You" and snuggle close and just sway to the music with the love of my life.................

This song was sung by Dick Haymes and Helen Forrest...and WOW Dick Haymes has such a smooth voice.  I listened to 4 versions of this song before picking out this one...But this version BY FAR gave me the  warmest feeling.

If you have a favorite love song from long ago that you want us to feature...just message and let me know....I'm LOVIN' doin' these old love songs and by the emails and pm's I'm getting...many of you are loving them too....

Anytime a song warms YOUR heart...I hope you will share this song blog on your own fb pages so your friends can have that same warm feeling....Please and Thanks...

Thanks For The Memories:  Songs Of yesteryear
will be posted before the blog some, many or most mornings...hahaha
I can't get more honest than that.

But here's the kicker...no matter what I talk about in my blog each morning...By posting a daily love song from yesteryear and talking a little about it...there will always be a little love coming daily from me...to you.

The very best love stories just have no ending
and I'm just so very blessed to be living one of those love stories.

BE THE CHANGE and LIVE AND LOVE WITH PASSION

Yup...this is the way "I" feel ....but shhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell him...he gets so SO sick of hearing this......YES HE DOES!!!!  'CAUSE HE"S AN OLD GEEZER  :-)  He finds notes like this on his work bench...in his truck seat....in the frig...in the commode  :-0....But that's ok...one day I may not be here and he'll be thinking..."WOW...I sure miss that old sappy girl and all of her mush"  :-)
We are not promised tomorrow
LIVE AND LOVE WITH PASSION EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!

And FYI...this blog looks perfect in the draft...I don't know WHY it turned out so messy on the actual blog page....so sorry
