The Wonder of You - Elvis

When no one else can understand me
When everything I do is wrong
You give me love and consolation
You give me strength to carry on
And your always there to lend a hand
In everthing I do
That's the Wonder, the wonder of you

And when you smile the world is brighter
You touch my hand and I am king
Your kiss to me is worth a fortune
Your love for me is everything
I guess, I'll never know the reason why
You love me as you do
That's the wonder, the wonder of you

When no-one else can understand me
When everything I do is wrong
You give me love and consulation
You give me hope to carry on
I guess I'll never know the reason why
You love me as you do
That's the Wonder, The Wonder of you
Songwriter(s)Baker Knight

Weeeeelll for goodness sakes alive...after I heard this song this morning I didn't know if I was going to be able to go ahead and write this blog right now or not.  Because I was just a limber as a wet noodle....
What in the world IS IT about Elvis Presley?  For me...it's that voice...so low and so smooth and then the words he's saying in his songs.  They're the words we all want and need so badly to hear.

WHY IS IT that when we're dating and falling in love...we just can't say enough sweet things to each other and we finally make that person our very own...and we switch right over to "The oil light is on in the car"..."I think there's a short in the ceiling light in the kitchen...it keeps blinking"...."On your way home from work, bring a gallon of milk".  But WHERE is the "Be careful today...I can't wait until we both get home tonight so we can cuddle up and watch TV together...because I ADORE you."
"You are my EVERYTHING...you know it"   "I love you"....WHERE did those sweet words GO?

What is it that happens so soon after we say "I do"...that makes our actions and vocabulary change soooooooooo much towards the love of our lives...WHY do we start taking them for granted so much and why do we slack off on the sweet talk and the love and affection....Oh the intimacy stays through the years....but what's intimacy...that's not a true show of love....   It's those small things that really say "I adore you"....."I LOVE you"....it's the hand holding...the arm around the shoulder when you're just standing talking to another couple....it's the hug that came out of no where ...for no reason...

"The Wonder of You" was written by Baker Knight in 1959 and was one of Elvis's most popular songs...
It says "When you smile the world is brighter...you touch my hand and I am king/queen...Your kiss to me is worth a fortune...Your love for me is everything...I guess I'll never know the reason, why... you love me like you do....That's the wonder....the wonder of youuuuuuuuuu"
Aren't those words just priceless?

I can remember that for years and years when things were quiet around the house and I'd get to thinking about my geezer....he'd be at work and the kids at school....and I'd look around me and realize all I have and all we've accomplished over the years and I'd think "HOW IN THE WORLD did I ever get this lucky?"   From frumpy wallflower to Queen of Round Knob Canyon  :-)  He never worked one single shift...that I wasn't standing in the door when he pulled in the drive...didn't matter if it was days, evenings or midnights.....except for those 7 years I worked after our youngest married...and even then...he came home to find something cooking in the oven or crockpot and a love note on the cabinet in our notebook....

When we were out and about a few months ago...a book just caught my eye and I laughed to myself when I saw the title ...and that book has been haunting me for months....So this past week...I kept thinking "I've GOT to write about that book...because the title is just the most ridiculous thing in the world and the title gives an impression that just isn't soooooooooo"....SO I was researching the book yesterday to write about it .... and I'll be doggies...it turns out the book has tremendous reviews and people just swear up and down it has turned their OLD relationships around.....the book is called something like "One Can Make a Perfect TWO" or something like that.  Now REALLY!!!  Does that sound POSSIBLE?  Can a wife...using a sweet attitude....turn around a husband that has turned into a rattle snake and make him a teddy bear again?  The book and the reviews....say yes!  AND vise versa...It says a husband can take a woman who used to be so sweet and adorable and then turned into a gold digging spend thrift with an attitude...and make a sweet thing out of her..again....
So we're going to be talking about that book TOMORROW....We don't need to buy the book....I've found enough online to give us some pointers.....so unless you have a relationship that would set world records....and who does these days....I hope you'll check back tomorrow and we'll go over this book and even discuss some of the reviews.....

But for now....let's start out the day singing this song over and over in our minds...."When no one else can understand me.....when everything I do is wrong....You give me love and consolation...You give me hope to carry on...I guess I'll never know the reason...you love me like you do...that's the wonder...the wonder of youuuuuuuuuuu...
