What a Wonderful World - LOUIS ARMSTRONG.

Songs Of Yesteryear
What A Wonderful World, by Louis Armstrong
Well...I'm looking at life through a new set of eyes these days.  Nothing can open your eyes any wider than being flat on your back for 4 weeks with nothing to do but think.  I'm half way through my 8 weeks now...and I'm plotting my course for the rest of my life right now.  LIFE has taken a new turn...for the Katydid.
We're going to try to get back to the love song blogs starting today.  Now some days I'm more light headed than others...and doc says that's common in people with a big sensitivity to anesthesia and it sometimes take a few weeks to get over there may be days I can barely type out a short blog update...but I'll do the best I can.
Todays love song blog is going to be a song about love of life and of the whole world, actually.  What A Wonderful World was written by Bob Thiele and George David Weiss and was intended to be an antidote for the increasingly racially and politically charged climate of every day life in the 1960's.
At first, this song just didn't take just wasn't very popular at all.  But the folks at ABC Records didn't LIKE the they just wouldn't promote it.  THANK GOODNESS someone did and we all came to love it.
This song is all about priorities and knowing what our priorities should be and actually are.  It's about being alert and noticing all the beautiful and priceless things around us that we take OH SO for granted.
At least in the United States, we're a group of people that rushes constantly.  We look but don't have time to seeeeeeeeeee.....we hear but don't have time to listen....We talk but so often...we really don't have any thing of any value to say.  Because life is all about rushing and working and going and doing and for WHAT?   WHERE ARE WE GOING?  WHAT ARE WE DOING?  We need to SLOW DOWN...This life we're is NOT a dress rehearsal...!   And that man or woman you married...they're not going to BE here forever...And those kids you brought into the world...that are now kinda raising themselves because the parents are so BUSY?  THEY are going to grow up and make their own lives...and you will have missed our on one of the most priceless times of your own life...the raising and giving your own kids.

I was just telling geezer yesterday that this has been...without a doubt...the most difficult 4 weeks of my life.  But do you know what?  I have FOUND myself in these 4 weeks.  Before the accident...I was just like most of you...running like a chicken with my head cut off...getting tons done...but missing SO MUCH in the process.

We need to all just step outside today...alone.  And just look around us at simple things....a tree...a flower...listen to the birds and crickets chirp...and just ponder on where we are right now...and where we WANT to be...and then just slow down and do it!

Peace....and love

What A Wonderful World Lyrics

I see trees so green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you.
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies so blue and clouds so white.
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night.
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
are also on the faces of people going by.

I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do.
They're really saying I love you.
I hear babies crying, I watch them grow.
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know.

And I think to myself what a wonderful world.
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.
