My Thoughts on Survivor From Beginning to Now And Previewing Season 28

So how do you all feel about Survivor, the TV show?

We've been watching Survivor in the Canyon since Season 1 and we've sure seen some changes.... I even had to google and find IMDB to refresh myself on the years...I couldn't even REMEMBER who had been on or anything about anyone that had won.

Back in the first season on Survivor in 2000,  I absolutely thought it was the most brilliant and exciting thing to ever come on the television.  I've since learned I was wrong.  What it was... was a brilliant way to show off string bikini's and lots of young people with really bad attitudes....now that's what it really was... after the fluff cleared....and still is...

As the years went on, I was shocked that so many young people with such horrid attitudes could even GET on a reality television show...But then...isn't that what those shows mainly are...shows highlighting mainly young people with huge ego's and bad attitudes?

I guess what I like about Survivor that has kept me watching through the years, is that once in a blue moon they bring on someone that's a little older and has a journal of real life lessons under their belts and it's always interesting to see how 'they' handle the challenges and the interactions with these egotistical younger people.

I would LOVE for them to do a whole show...with baby boomers only.  I really think it would be one of the best seasons ever...HOWEVER they may have to do away with the bikini idea...

When they announced Blood vs. Water, I didn't think I was going to care for this one at all.  If I was going to be on Survivor myself the last thing I'd want to worry about...would be someone very close to me that I dearly loved...and how they were being treated and if they were hungry or cold or this or that.

Geezer has always lovingly told me I wouldn't last 5 minutes on Survivor because as soon as they said  "Hit the water" I'd be looking for my water wings and every body would laugh me right out of there.....WHAT EEEEEEEEEEEEVER....

I also don't like returning people from previous Survivors....If we've seen them on Survivor...BELIEVE ME...we've seen all we need to ever see...about them in this life...

The year Rupert was on...and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED...Rupert when he was on before.  I thought he was the most real and down to earth person ever to be on Survivor...but then he won...and this time on...he had an huge ego attitude from day one.  So I wasn't that sad when he left...and even less sad when his wife was voted off.  If you've won a million dollars once...do you really need to try to win another million....Get on a good budget for goodness sakes and make due with what you have and let someone else have a shot at that money.

I didn't care for Monica on this last season... She said last night she was 43 and I would have sworn she was 57 if she was a day....
A striking beauty...but an aged one that looked like life was all about her and always had been...in spite of what she was constantly saying about being a doormat.

You don't have a porcelain face and a body built like a brick yard if you're a doormat...Now "I" am a DOORmat....a little too pudgy...with bulldog jaws...and full of gravy and fried potatoes that I fix often for the geezer and I dabble in it too...I have "Sharon hair" and no makeup....always in decades old lounge clothes around the house...and I look like this because I'm so busy with others and kinda un-organized and there's just no time for meeeee...so I DO rank under the heading of 'frumpy doormat' :-)  So hand over that million....to meeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I always wonder what these every day people DO with their instant million when they win.  So I decided to do some investigating and find out.  These are the kinds of things you DO find when you're nosey and have a strong investigative gene.
I can't give a big classy speech on the latest fashion trends because that's not my cup of tea.  but as a nosey private investigator, I can sure stick my nose into someone else's business and get down to the bare bones and brass tacks of things we REALLY want to know about....like how former Survivor winners spend their millions.....

We all remember Richard Hatch....President of the Egomaniacs of America club and he was on Survivor 1.  But his fame skyrocketed when he was arrested for tax evasion and he spend 3 years in prison.  He continued to be in and out of trouble for ages...I have no clue where he is now AND I don't care....

Tina...Winner #2.  I loved Tina and I didn't love Tina.  She was a great age...I love seeing the older players on Survivor and especially if they're holding their own.  Tina 'seemed fit'...but she was just so skinny and frail...she kinda gave me the creeps....Then this season...last night, in fact, we learned that she lost her son in a tragic auto accident just 2 weeks ago.  So she may have won a million in season #2 and she may have been a strong enough woman to almost win in season 27...but she is dealing with great heartache as we speak of her now.....

Ethan...Survivor winner #3.  Kim would have swam the oceans to get to Ethan if he had called out to her...with or without any winnings when he was on Survivor.  You'd have thought she was dating him...it was always Ethan this and Ethan that....AND she was married at the time.   Her ex would have made a good Survivor contestant because he sure had the ego for it.....
Turned out Ethan was a pretty good guy down deep inside where it counts.  He spent a good portion of his winnings to Co Found "Grassroots Soccer" a non profit organization to educate African kids about HIV/AIDS prevention through Soccer/Sports.

Bob Crowsley...He was the old geezer that wore the bow tie...remember him?  I really loved Bob although I just kept saying I couldn't believe he was hanging on.  He made friends with everybody in all alliances and that's how he made it to the end.  No one wanted to vote the old geezer off because he was so nice.  He's so far...the oldest person ever to win on Survivor.
He paid his winnings forward by founding "Marine Forest Yurts" Now that doesn't even make sense...does it?  WHAT in the DICKENS is a Marine Forest YURT?  Well HE bought a 100 acre farm....built a retreat complete with a big pond and started a non profit organization to give free vacations to veterans.....now is that nice or what?

Coming up in February....they're going to be staying in the Philippines.  And we'll have Brawn, Brains and Beauty.  Brawn will be the very fit and aggressive....Brains will be the very intelligent and good at the puzzle solving...and Beauty...well, they'll be the very attractive and no doubt in some of the stringiest bikini's we've seen yet.  And they say they are going to meet their challenges by flirting their way through the game...just like they flirt their way through life.   Well we are so surprised....but that's life for egomaniacs....

Whew! This has been the Bird's Eye View of the Katydid....and I'm outta here......
