The Platters - Little Things Mean A Lot (1964) Songs of Yesteryear

                                Thanks For The Memories:
                                      Songs Of yesteryear

This song was writing in about 1953 by Edith Lendeman doing the lyrics and Carl Stulz pinging out the music.
I'm not surprised it was a woman that came up with these lyrics because we woman just have a tendency to be a little more warm and fuzzy and swoozie....
But the men like to be pampered too...they just don't want anybody making a big deal about it.  With the men it's expected and unappreciated..."just DO IT woman...that's why I married you...to be waited on"....hahaha...If a woman gets pampered very much...she almost has to take the next day off to re-coop from the weakness of her pleasant surprise...

We've always laughed at Kim because she'd be here and the geezer would say "Katy bring me a glass of tea" and Kim would say "Mom don't you DO that....HE has 2 legs that are just as good as yours"  And I'd try to explain about how I LOVE to wait on him...but she couldn't comprehend that....She understands NOW....Now that SHE has a 'love of her life in HER life'.....

Oh WOW....The song says ... "Touch my hair when you pass my chair....Little things mean a lot......Send me the warmth of a secret smile...to show me you haven't forgotten...."  WOW   ...hahaha  I'm sooooooo sappy...hahaha
That line "A line a day when you're far away" reminded me of all the notes my geezer and I used to write and still do to some extent....but when I worked for that 7 years after Kim married...and Billy was working swing shift and I was alternating days and evenings....We'd leave a notebook on the kitchen counter and if he was on days and I was on evenings I'd leave him a note before I headed out to work and he'd do the same for me when the shift/tied turned...We left notes for each other every single day and we used those little spiral notebooks that sell for about 15 cents at the beginning of the school year that are full sheet of paper size.  When he retired ...and I wrapped up my 7 years of working outside the house...we had a stack of notebooks with notes to each other that stacked above my knees  :-)
But I'd come in that front door and if HE had left for work while "I" was gone I KNEW I'd have a note from him in that notebook and most days I'd walk in the door and throw my keys and bag down and head right for that notebook to see what he had said in HIS note..just like I was 16 again  :-)  Then when he'd pull in the drive way after his evening shift I'd be standing in the front door waiting for him....We've always met each other at the front door when the other one would be out on an errand....and lately I've been at Kev's so much working the flood zone and the other day I came in and he didn't meet me at the front door and I said "Is the honeymoon OVER?"   :-)   But he's having a lot of ankle trouble lately and we don't know where we're going with THAT...but he's about to go back on crutches....oh Lordy...shall we pray...

Well....this is just a priceless song and it speaks volumes...."Throw me a kiss from across the room....say I look nice when I don't.....Touch my hair as you pass my chair...Little things...mean a lot"   SOOOOOOOOOOOO let's see if we can't all incorporate a few of these little things into our days....I already do them and always have....how about you?

Thanks For The Memories:  Songs Of yesteryear
will be posted before the blog some, many or most mornings.
I can't get more honest than that.

But here's the kicker...no matter what I talk about in my blog each morning...By posting a daily love song from yesteryear and talking a little about it...there will always be a little love coming daily from me...to you.

The very best love stories just have no ending
and I'm just so very blessed to be living one of those love stories.
BE THE CHANGE and LIVE AND LOVE WITH PASSION

Blow me a kiss across the room
Say I look nice when I'm not
Touch my hair as you pass my chair
Little things mean a lot

Give me your arm as we cross the street
Call me at six on the dot
A line a day, when you're far away
Little things mean a lot

Don't have to buy me diamonds or pearls
Champagne, sables or such
I never cared much for diamonds and pearls
'Cause honestly, honey, they just cost money

Give me your hand when I've lost my way
Give me your shoulder to cry on
Whether the day is bright or gray
Give me your heart to rely on

Send me the warmth of a secret smile
To show me you haven't forgot
For always and ever, now and forever
Little things mean a lot

Give me your hand when I've lost my way
Give me your shoulder to cry on
Whether the day is bright or gray
Give me your heart to rely on

Send me the warmth of a secret smile
To show me you haven't forgot
For always and ever, now and forever
Little things mean a lot
