Ready to kick off your diet with a bang? Look no further than Soup Diets!
We love two classics: the Cabbage Soup Diet and the Fat Flush Soup Diet. Both are healthy, cleansing, and give you the boost you need. The real appeal is their powerful, rapid effect: you can typically flush excess fat and shed 7 to 10 pounds in just one week! While they’re famous, these diets aren’t magic—they’re just highly effective tools for a quick start.
Miracle in a Bowl – Cabbage Soup and Fat Flush
The Famous Soup Diets
Lose Weight Fast With Fat Flush Soup Diet OR Cabbage Soup Diet!
Both soups are ideal for a weight loss program because they are loaded with ingredients that are low in carbohydrates, fat, and calories.
During the week you eat the soup to lose 5 to 10 pounds, you must eliminate sugar, dairy, high-carbohydrate foods, fat, and salt from your diet.
This means absolutely no milk for breakfast, no sodas (like Coke) with lunch or supper, and no bread for any reason (even with the soup).
Do Soup Diets Work?
Eliminating sugar, dairy, high carbohydrates, fat, and salt will immediately cause your body to shed the fluid retention that most people carry.
When your face looks a little thinner and your stomach shrinks a bit, you might think, “WOW, this is a miracle in a soup bowl!”
But hold on—that initial drop is just water weight. You will likely lose 8 to 10 pounds of fluid before you start burning actual body fat.
This rapid fluid loss is why restrictive diets feel so miraculous at first—it’s easy to achieve when you cut out those food categories. The good news? Both soups are genuinely delicious and effective for fast weight loss.

Good job! I have found many articles to read but you do a good thing. That is a boy. Thank you so much for sharing the delicious post. Expect your next article.

testing
When you say one container of mushrooms (for the cabbage soup) are they fresh or canned and approximately how many? Also when you say two green peppers are you referring to bell peppers? And on this soup diet do you have the soup for breakfast lunch and dinner or do you have other things as well? Thanks!
Fresh mushrooms…I rarely use canned anything … and just be your own judge on how much depending on how big a pot you’re making. Jalapeno peppers…and just to your liking on amount. Soup…replace 2 meals a day with the soup … it’s absolutely delicious … and use it for snack if needed…..SOMETIMES I’ll add a cracker or two.
They both sound good but if you are trying to be healthful I don’t think the stuff in the Lipton soup mix is very good for you, just my 2 cents.
I absolutely agree Lady Hawthorne… and I would imagine that soup mix has msg in it and I just can’t handle msg AT ALL. When I’d make it.. I’d leave off the soup mix … because I was just too leary of msg…Thanks for reading and thanks tons for your comments.
I remember my parents eating the Cabbage soup in the early ’80s I actually loved that soup. Thanks for sharing with us at Simple Lives Thursday; hope to see you again this week.

Oh I remember my days of the cabbage soup diet. I never made it past day 4–not without “cheating” anyway.
Thank you for sharing with us at Merry Monday!

It really is a delicious soup. But I’m not very strong willed when it comes to food either. 🙂
How many calories per serving is the cabbage soup?
Hi Toni – The calories are going to vary from about 70 to 100. As you probably know – all of the ingredients are low calorie: tomatoes, carrots, mushrooms, peppers, onions, cabbage, etc. I’d say the soup I make would have close to 70 calories per serving OR EVEN LESS – because I lean heavily on the broth itself … lol What you REALLY have to watch is the spices and salt – because those can make your body hold fluids and prevent weight loss. It’s going to be a lot of water that you’re losing in that first week anyway … so you sure don’t want to do anything to make you HOLD water… 🙂
Some recipes call for the onion soup mix … but I don’t use that because even though it’s delicious .. it’s full of additives that are poison in my opinion and also cause big fluid retention. I also don’t use the boullion (sp?) cube. I DO use extra V8 and I always use the low sodium V8.
The good thing about this soup IS … if you get hungry or just think you want to snack … it’s right there … it’s filling … and doesn’t add hardly any calories … Add a low carb, low sodium and sensible meal once or twice during the day and use this to keep from snacking … even that will help you lose weight. It’s those high carbs, sugar and sodium that get you. Hope this helps. Kay
Do I need to boil the cabbage, Sautee the peppers onion and carrots before hand, and then mix them all together?
I usually just put it all in the pot and turn on the burner. I always have half a dozen things going … and I pick the easiest route. Hope you like it … it’s delicious.
Thanks for reading and hope you stop back by soon… Kay
Wow I never thought about this diet like that before! Thanks for sharing on Monday Madness link party 🙂

Kim and I are about to do a video making this soup. I think it’s our most read blog of all time. We’re hoping to do that very soon and possibly in the next couple weeks… 🙂
I haven’t tried the fat flush soup but I have the cabbage, and it’s good but I get tried of the cabbage after a couple days. I think I’ll try the other it has more protein, and sounds more filling. Thanks for sharing! Pinning!
They’re both delicious Linda. I add lots of tomato’s to mine and tomato juice. I think I could live on tomato’s and it’s juice … thanks for reading … kay
The soup with the ground turkey is absolutely delicious! How many calories per serving does it contain?
Seems like I read it’s considered to be about 70 calories a bowl … but now that’s going to depend how much meat and or veggies you scoup out in each bowl. 🙂 ISN’T IT DELICIOUS??? If you’re into homemade soups … also ck out the Swamp Cabbage Soup recipe in my recipe section – that’s also low calorie and SO SO delicious…
http //will try both soup recipe-sounds great
I hope you WILL try them Allene … they’re delicious and SO healthy if you watch the sodium … Thanks for stopping by and I hope you’ll stop by again …
I started with that cabbage soup diet and within a year was 115 lbs lighter. Of course I was in my 20’s back then (a hundred years ago) What I did was to alternate with other ideas, I would use the cabbage soup for 3 days then just eat brown rice and veggies the rest of the week. I walked virtually everywhere I went so I got a great workout every day. And most of all, I got happy.
WOW that sound WONDERFUL!!! Congratulations … It really is a delicious soup. I’m a tomato fanatic anyway. And it’s so healthy if you watch the sodium …
Thanks for reading … I hope you’ll stop by again
What would you recommend as a substitute for the cilantro, ans I absolutely cannot stand the taste of that. Thank you!
Hi Sue … If you don’t care for cilantro why don’t you add extra parsley or even dice up some raw baby spinach in the soup. The main thing is to keep it healthy but low calorie. I’ve made it several times over the years and juggled the recipe around to suit us. Thanks for reading and I’m about to post my own “42 Day Weight Loss – Get Healthy Challenge” later this afternoon. I hope you’ll check that and consider joining us … there’s no charge whatsoever and it’s said to give you a good weight loss and bring your numbers to or closer to normal in just 42 days….I hope you’ll check it out. Kay
Hi Kay – thank you so much for replying and the suggestion of the spinach — I made it last night and my co-worker and I just tried it and love it!! I’ll look into the 42-Day Weight Loss Challenge you mentioned. Thanks again!
The weight loss challenge has posted just a few days ago. We’re on it now and it’s amazing. NO cravings or hunger … I think it’s the best we’ve ever tried. Thanks for reading
hi! Just wanted to know how much water do I need to use for both soups? Thanks so much!
I add little or no extra water – your broth will come from the tomato juice and the juices that cook out of the veggies. Thanks for ready – hope you stop back by soon. 🙂 Kay
Can you eat avocado since it is a fruit. It is high in fat but good fat. Just wondering.
You do adhere to a very healthy diet along with the soup. Low carb veggies, healthy lean meat on occasion. And on the Avacado – they are so healthy they are actually listed as a good food on most diets. We eat avocado’s ourselves and I’ll often just mash them and add lots of diced onion and tons of freshly squeezed lime juice. It’s delicious that way and the onion and lime are also very healthy. Thanks so much for stopping by and hope you stop by again really soon. Kay
With the fat flush soup, are the jalapeños optional? I like a little kick to my food, but not TOO spicy, just wondering if it will make a difference?
It “will” make a difference because the jalapeno’s give it a ‘bite’. I put cayenne in absolutely everything we eat – gravy – mashed potatoes … EVERYTHING .. so we don’t notice the hot of a little jalapeno. Cayenne and other hot peppers are very healthy … increase metabolism and help keep arteries flowing more freely if you use them enough. We have cayenne, jalapeno’s, onions and tomatoes in some form every single day. We’re 69 and 70 and can work circles around any GROUP of 35 year olds you want to put us up agains….strength AND energy wise … lol Thanks SO SO much for reading and hope you’ll check back often. Email any time I LOVE to hear from our readers .. Kay
Just something I noticed, optional ingredient in your recipe calls for V8 cocktail. There is an abundance of sodium in that product. Although, I believe it would enhance the soup, do you have any other suggestions.
It is recommended by the holistic greats that we all eat at least 2 tbsp of any tomato product a day. We drink V8 EVERY DAY – but we buy the low sodium … thanks for reading …
