Let’s talk about weight loss tips that work. We’re still not too far into the new year and there are many people still starting new diets to lose a few pounds before spring has really sprung. And too – people start diets all through the year – so it really doesn’t matter when you’re going to start your diet – what you really need ARE – a few weight loss tips that work for whenever – right?
Weight Loss Tips That Work –
We must burn about 3,500 calories to lose one pound. If walking is going to be your exercise – there are about 2,000 steps in one mile for the average person. Most people – as a general rule, unless they’re very sedentary – will normally walk about 5900 steps in one average day or somewhere between 4 and 6 thousand.
Weight Loss Tips That Work: Tip #1 – Buy The FitBud!!!
I recently embarked on my umpteen hundredth diet and walking program. However – this time – I got smart and researched digital step counters. I’ve had many over the years and absolutely none that I was really happy with. But I had no interest in the expensive FitBit that so many are buying up. I don’t need a step counter that will help with my laundry or run errands for me – or weigh me by itself or anything else. I just need a step counter that will count my steps and motivate me to keep walking.
When I started my walking and weight loss program a couple weeks ago – I started out with 5 minute walks about 6 times a day. Now that wasn’t because I was so out of shape – but because I felt I just didn’t have 30 minutes to spare in one long shot.
If I could lose just 20 pounds – that would put me down around 110 and that would be a good place for me to ride ‘er out from … lol But I’ve weighed right at 130 pounds since our first son was born in 1968 and finally at 70 yrs old – I’ve just decided it’s now or never.
Weight Loss Tips That Work: Tip #2 – Entertain Yourself While Walking
Walking for 5 minutes walks – made it very easy because I always felt like I had 5 minutes – and that FitBud I ended up buying – was a lifesaver out of this world. That thing is so simple – you just open the package when it gets here from amazon – hold the reset button for 15 seconds and drop it in your pocket and start walking.
I started walking at the top of the hour on a couple of occasions during the day and watched the ID channel and found that I couldn’t stop walking until that particular crime was solved. SO I was making headway on top of headway – helping to solve murders and walking away the pounds. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE – my new FitBud step counter!!! And I LOVE walking while watching the ID Channel.
Weight Loss Tips That Work: Tip #3 – Eat Healthy
But enough about exercise and walking – let’s talk about foods. We have several blogs on cravings and I’ve often said if we can understand cravings – we can win the war on weight loss – BECAUSE by understanding what nutrient we are missing – according to our cravings – we can supply our bodies with that nutrient instead of the chocolate or bread or dairy or whatever we’re craving – and the weight just comes off.
The best diet in the whole wide world – in my opinion – is lean protein – low carb. No sugar or dairy and lots of salads and low carb veggies. That will not only make for a very healthy detox – it will help to cleanse your system and get you on the right road to health.
Weight Loss Tips That Work: Tip #4 – Stay Away From Diet Pills
There are so many commercial weight loss programs out there and most of them include supplements of some kind to help curb your appetite and rev up your metabolism. YOU DO NOT NEED THOSE – AND THEY ARE NOT GOOD FOR YOU!!!
You just don’t need supplements to speed up your metabolism. IN FACT – some of those supplements are more harmful to you than helpful and I don’t care what the commercials and ads say – do your own research. Just type each one in and then type + health hazard. YOU’LL see …
But there are many tricks of the weight loss program trade – that are healthy and will do your body good.
There are foods that are thermogenic and that means they will speed up our metabolism in a safe and healthy way and those foods will help us burn calories faster. And that’s the healthy way to diet.
A few thermogenic foods include but are not limited to lean protein, green tea, hot peppers and some spices, coconut oil and more.
Just leaving off sugar, dairy, high carbohydrates, fat and salt will cause you to immediately lose that fluid retention that most of us have.
In my own opinion – If I was going to go on a diet to lose a fair amount of weight – I’d want to jump start my diet with either one of the good miracle soup diets, like cabbage soup or fat flush soup or the low carb/lean protein diet. Any of those would give you a good jump start to a more long term diet.
And that lean protein/low carb veggie diet can go on and on and you’ll still be healthy – because – that is just healthy eating.
I’ve had 3 friends that have recently gone on diets to make health improvements at the start of this new year. They each chose the lean protein/low carb diet and each lost about 14 pounds in 2 weeks. That’s a pretty good jump start regardless of what long term diet you’re going to get on.
SO the secret is to a good consistent weight loss would be to walk consistently and get in 30 minutes a day – even if you have to start out with 5 minute walks – 6 times a day.
And if you have specific cravings – you need to research those cravings and see that you supply your body the nutrients it needs with healthy foods or supplements instead of eating the junk food you’re craving.
And then to eat very healthy meals of lean protein and low carb. Get in a little healthy oil daily and you will see results.
